CRA Horror Stories
My father in law recently returned from an extended visit outside of the country. Upon his return he called Revenue Canada to inform them of his address change only to learn that his ex wife had already had all of his tax returns and information sent to her without his permission, without signing the proper documents required by the Canadian Government and without the required information, such as his mother's maiden name. She did all of this fraudulently and illegally and when asked how it was possible that she had been able to do any of this without his express and signed documented permission forms. He is now waiting to have the documents which she sent in which she forged his signature in order to do what she has done. How on earth has the Ferderal Government allowed this to happen and they could not even give him a reasonable answer on what his rights are when he does get the documents showing that his signature was forged and that they simply sent out his personal and private tax information to a woman he has been separated from and had informed the government of this separation in 2005, that is SEVEN YEARS of taxes filed as separated. How she managed to accomplish this feat is unfathomable and an absolute indication of how careful and diligent the Canada Revenue Agency and their cohorts in fraud and identity theft, NOT!!
There must be something he can do, there must be something that the Federal Government would do when it is proved that she defrauded them and preformed identity theft. Will the Government do anything to help him? I seriously doubt it... if you are a criminal they are right there on your team helping you steal lie and cheat people out of what is rightfully theirs and personal private information which is supposed to be confidential and unobtainable by anyone except the person whom the documents belong to. The whole matter reeks of a government agent making A BIG BIG MISTAKE, yet any confidence in having this matter dealt with properly and expediently and in my father in laws favour are about as easy as getting honey from a goat. I am disgusted by the entire Canadian Government and the CRA as well, they are nothing but a bunch of criminals and thieves who make up laws as they go along and steal from the elderly and the poor.... you don't ever hear of anyone who is making millions of dollars a year having these issues. The government is too busy kissing thier ass and giving them kick backs and tax breaks to actually make things fair for the average Canadian.

28 of us in my home town were caught up in a charity/tax scheeme. long story short CRA audited us all and the guy who screwed us couldnt substanciate our business losses. i personally had to pay back 77,000 dollars. i offered 32 equal payments over 32 months but told them i wasnt paying their interest charges.(they knew we were all swindled so there were no penalties) i offered 6% annualized and not their compunded daily nonsense. they turned me down! so i told them to go %^$@* themselves and that my offer was reasonable considering the circumstances that brought us here. in the end they forced me into aconsumer proposal of which they got .46 cents on the dollar and my credit destroyed!..this fight is not over and theres much more to this story of which im hoping the fifth estate will take some interest in it CRA are nothing more than a collection agency and confiscatory agency. no heart no soul and no morals...stay tunned,my plans are to recind my SIN # and all my gov't issued identification and get off the tax roll that they tricked us all into. i am not a slave!

I feel that these people are worse than Nazis who have a family of their next victims waiting to go into whatever life destroying method they choose this time. We had a small business and there is no possible way that we owe what they say we owe. We were sent notice to file for the last ten years in which we could not afford an accountant but did find one on payments $14,000 later. Our business just put food on the table for our family of 6. I have since closed the LTD business and have been garnisheed for two years now because I have finally found a great job. The garnishee ended for a couple months and came back yesterday for another $30,000 because they reassesed and decided to Penalize me for one year $10,000 on $6,000 owing for being non compliant on a reassesment. They say the amount owing is between $30 to $60,000 and they can not tell me where the $80,000 has gone that I have given them in the last two years. I had an agent call me from EDM saying that what they are doing is wrong and I need to get a Lawyer but I can't afford that he did not give his name. He admitted to me that the Canadian press is mandated to NOT give negative press against them. You ask them if there is anyone there that can make a descision in your favour and they tell you no they have no one in charge but yet the person who does not speak english that answers the phone can put in an order to take your wages.
This is the only country I know of where we bring in people from other countries to take everything away from the born and raised citizens making them homeless. This is not what our Soldiers went to war for. These people are sick criminals who are no worse than Hitler himself. You go to your MP and they call the minister of finance or whoever is in charge of these animals and all they tell you is they are doing a great job abd treating everyone fair. What kind of an organization is it when the Prime Minister is afraid of it?

It is amazing to me that in a Country such as ours that we spend time and energy educating our children that "Bullying" is not allowed. Today (April 4th 2011) the news was again recounting the suicides which bullying is accredited for in Eastern Canada.<br />
Yet we have a Government Agency which uses "Bullying Tactics" on a daily basis.<br />
What has the human cost been for these audits over the years, the stories of their wrong doings and life altering decisions is mortifying and a huge injustice. <br />
We are in Election Mode; any honest Politian’s out there looking for a bigger, better SOAP BOX.<br />
1) Make a motion to allow the Tax Payer who proves CCRA is wrong to bring Civil Liability to the table and pursue those responsible.<br />
2) Make a motion to have CCRA financially responsible for their errors and make these errors required to be published and reported to all Canadians.<br />
These people are working for the Canadian Tax Payer as such let’s get them to be accountable to each and every one of us! <br />
How about we clean up a system which is over staffed and has a mandate which is “Anti Taxpayer” where they openly admit that they believe all tax payers are crooks (as per the W5 aired report). <br />
Where every Audit “will result in more taxes owed…regardless of fact”.<br />
When talking to Accountants and Tax Lawyers, many of these advise “if audited you are best to simply pay the amount asked for as you do not have enough time, money and rights to properly defend yourself”.<br />
So I ask you, if someone demands you pay them money that you do not owe, is that not extortion?<br />
HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE EVER HAD A CCRA AUDIT AND BEEN GIVEN A TAX REFUND, IF THE ANSWER IS NONE, THAN THE SYSTEM IS FLAWED! <br />

i just got the book yesterday and i am half way through this book and i am so grateful to the author for such a timely book. i owe lots of $$$ to CRA and getting letters, i've filed various notice of objections and have gotten just another account statement of the interest and total amount owing. Feel like there is no end to it. Feel like every penny we make goes to some form of tax and the rich get richer and the poor keep owing. i am going to take a lot of the stuff the author says and have it work for me. i can't afford a lawyer or tax consultant but thank you so much for all this information!!! i'm also disappointed that CRA can get away with all this-feel that canadians just seem to sit back and take it. I'm NOT!!!!
